Privacy Policy

We believe your inner life is your own business. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what we do — and don't do — with it. We've written it in plain English because small print that nobody reads helps nobody.

Short version: we collect as little as possible, store it on our own server, never sell it, never share it, and you can delete it any time.

Who we are

The Life Check is a personal wellbeing tool at thelifecheck.com. It is an independent site run as a personal project. For privacy questions you can contact us at hello@thelifecheck.com.

Taking the Life Check without an account

You can take the full Life Check without giving us anything at all. No name, no email, no account. Your answers are processed entirely in your browser to draw your Life Wheel and calculate your scores. Nothing is sent to our server during this process.

If you choose to save your results to your device, they are stored in your browser's local storage — a small private file on your own computer. We have no access to it.

Creating a member account

If you choose to create a free account so you can save your check-ins and track your progress, we collect:

That is everything. We do not collect your surname, your location, your device information, or any other personal data.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on our own server hosted by Bluehost in the United States. It is not held by any third-party database service. Only the site owner has access to the database.

What we do not do

Email communications

If you create an account we may send you a monthly reminder email — something like "Have you checked in on your life this month?" — using Mailchimp. This is entirely optional. Every email includes an unsubscribe link and you can opt out at any time. We will never send you promotional emails for third-party products or services.

Mailchimp holds your email address for the purpose of sending these reminders. Your Life Check scores and personal data are never shared with Mailchimp.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are most popular. This uses cookies and collects anonymised data about your visit — pages viewed, time on site, general location by country. It does not identify you personally. You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Cookies

We use two types of cookie. A session cookie that keeps you logged in while you use the site — this disappears when you close your browser. And the Google Analytics cookies described above. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies of any kind. See our Cookie Policy for full details.

Your rights

You have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights email us at hello@thelifecheck.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

The Life Check is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has created an account please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy we will update the date below and, if you have an account, notify you by email. Continuing to use the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
